Principia SSAT Diagnostics

Welcome to our SSAT diagnostic! This test will give you a baseline score to help you plan your SSAT preparation. Here's what you need to know before you begin:

  • If you are in grades 5–7 and will be applying to middle schools, take the Middle Level SSAT diagnostic. If you are in grades 8-11 and will be applying to high schools, take the Upper Level SSAT diagnostic

  • Once you click the Take Our Upper Level/Middle Level SSAT Diagnostic button, you'll be prompted to enter your full name and email address. This will create a free account on our testing platform, so please ensure it’s the best student email address you’d like to use if you move forward with our services. We do not share your information with any other parties.

  • The duration of the SSAT diagnostic tests is about 3 hours with a 10-minute break after the first section and a 10-minute break after the third section

  • You will only have one attempt to take the exam, and once the test is started, it cannot be paused or resumed later

  • We recommend that you use the entire time allotted for each section—if you finish early, use the extra time to review your answers

  • If you have time accommodations, please toggle on the Accommodations and Support feature and select your section and break time accommodations

  • Be sure to read the instructions before you begin! They'll highlight testing tools that may come in handy

Once you finish the exam, your results will be available immediately. You'll also receive an email prompting you to create a username and password for the testing site so you can refer back to your results later and take additional practice tests as assigned by your instructor.

Our team will also follow up within 72 hours from the time the diagnostic test is submitted with recommended next steps. Please allow for a longer response time than usual during holidays and closures.

Ready? Make sure you're in a quiet environment, you have scratch paper handy, and you've put away all electronic devices other than your calculator. Then let's get started!
