Congrats to Principia's Class of 2027!

Hello all! We’re wrapping up another successful year of college consulting at Principia — in many ways, our most successful yet. Here are some of our admissions highlights:

  • Harvard (3)

  • Yale (3)

  • UPenn (2)

  • Brown (2)

  • Cornell (6)

  • Dartmouth (2)

  • Columbia (2)

  • UChicago (3)

  • Johns Hopkins (3)

  • Vanderbilt (2)

  • UVA (12)

  • Georgetown (2)

  • Duke (2)

  • UNC (4)

  • UC Berkeley (4)

  • UCLA (4)

  • USC (2)

  • NYU (3)

  • Georgia Tech (3)

  • William and Mary (6)

  • Virginia Tech (5)

  • Pratt

  • Bowdoin

  • Haverford

  • McGill

Some thoughts and trends for this application cycle:

  • Regular decision admissions rates continue to plummet — all of the top tier Ivies are now below 5% in terms of acceptance rates, and the trend is even more dramatic for schools like NYU, which accepted just 8% of students to their New York campus this cycle (down from 30% just four years ago).

  • Not surprisingly, ED2 continues to rise in popularity — 100% of our students who leveraged ED2 were accepted to schools like UChicago and JHU, and we continue to encourage students to strongly consider ED2 options when applicable

As for essay highlights, our students covered a range of topics as varied and unique as their lives. One student reflected on converting to Christianity in an atheist household; another, a future video game designer, wrote about his cancer experience through the lens of a video game. We covered everything from the challenges of a female engineer joining the boy’s wrestling team to a student’s love for local hot sauces from around the country — and how this love connects to his interest in the tension between risk and rationality.

Congrats to the class of 2027!
